Who's who in the Berkshire e-Learning Foundation

The Berkshire e-Learning Foundation is governed by trustees.

Trustees:

Chairman: Peter Kayes is now retired but used to work at Thames Valley University in Slough , where he held a range of management roles which included responsibility for teaching departments in Business, Computing and other Technology based subjects prior to taking up a post as Director of the Slough Campus. He previously taught computer studies on a range of higher education courses as well as cross-curricular use of IT to teachers.
As well as being Chair of Trustees of the Berkshire e-Learning Foundation he lives in Reading, is a Director of Connexions Berkshire and a governor of two schools in Reading.

Treasurer: Ian Haggart was a trustee of the Slough e-Learning Foundation for five years and subsequently became a founder trustee of the Berkshire e-learning Foundation. He has provided corporate and industry support to the Slough Education Action Zone, and to a local primary school in Slough . Ian has 25 years business experience in the Telecommunications and Information Technology industries.

Trustees: David Holden is the Marketing Director for Taecanet – a provider of Online Learning services to the education sector, in addition he is a Director of the Holden Partnership Limited a Business and Management Development consultancy. David’s commercial background is in education, training and business consultancy, latterly as ICL’s Client Director for Education.

David has held a number of non-executive directorships, industry committee, community posts and trustee roles and his role in Taecanet keeps him in close touch with the pressures facing schools’ implementation of ICT solutions. He is a current Board Member of the SLICT Programme, previously chaired the Skills Focus Group of the DfES ICT Industry Club, is a Board member of the Slough Enterprise Hub and Chair of the Slough Creative Academy .

Ian Wijesinghe has been working with computer technology for twenty years. After a succesful 12 year technical career at Microsoft, he embarked on a sabbatical in 2003. One passionate interest has been to help see information technology put to greater effective use in education and the voluntary sector. As a governor and volunteer parent, he's been working hands-on with a few local schools solve the challenges of using IT.

Katie Moore is an Assistant Headteacher (ICT) at Fullbrook School . She worked in Windsor and Maidenhead Local Authority for 4 years as an ICT Adviser and became interested in bridging the digital divide during this time. Katie has been a trustee of the Berkshire e-Learning Foundation since it was established.

Katie has recently completed a certificate in blended learning and is passionate about the use of ICT in education. She enjoys reading (when there is time!) and the odd glass of wine!

Andrew Asante is the Head of ICT & Computing at Furze Platt Senior School , and is currently the targeted improvement grant coordinator for a collaboration of six senior schools in the Royal borough of Windsor and maidenhead. As a PGCE Mentor he has assisted in the recruitment and retention of new professionals into the teaching profession; in conjunction with Reading University . He also leads seminars on key ICT issues that effect ICT teachers and has organised CPD sessions for practitioners within the borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

Of recent Andrew has been invited to sit on the executive board for the Barclay hall Christian fellowship charity and is also a trustee. As an avid football fan and Liverpool supporter Andrew has been known to play 5 aside football, and in those calmer moments enjoy a frame of snooker or pool.

Consultant Advisors: Glenys Hart worked as a senior manager in education in Berkshire for more than fifteen years and has been keen to realise the education potential of computers since the first BBC A was unpacked. More recently she has worked for Slough Local Authority as a School Improvement and ICT Adviser and now works as an Independent Education Consultant . She is currently a governor for a Wokingham primary school and has lived in Reading for more than twenty years. She was a trustee for the Slough e-learning foundation for several years.

Brian Jones has spent many years in Higher Education with special interests in the use of technology to support learning where he pioneered developments in the use of multimedia in learning. Brian now works as a Contract Manager with Thames Valley University running community learning projects. He brings experience in bid writing and evaluation and is keen to establish the sustainable use of mobile computers for joint school and home use. Brian joined Berkshire e-Learning Foundation in January 2008.
