Transformation Fund

After successfully bidding to the Transformation Fund a grant fund set up by the Department of Business Innovation and Skills, the BNLCP began the Berkshire Digital Learning Champions Project. The project occurred from November 2009 to the end of April 2010.

162 learners from a number of different ethnic and age backgrounds were taught to basic IT skills using free online resources such as Googlemail and My Guide. They were taught in numerous locations across Berkshire in environments and at times that suited them.

One of the new methods explored by the project was the production of video case studies. These video case studies capture the different stakeholder perspectives and can be seen by clicking on the screens below.

In addition to this, a number of project-developed resources were created. These included Web2.0 Technologies Webinars that were aimed at the centres and organisations within the BNLCP, video case study guidance material, the report and the Celebration Event presentation. All of these resources can be found below on the BNLCP website.

Learner's Viewpoint

A diverse range of people participated in the project as learners. We captured some of their experiences on the videos you can view through clicking on this box. We hope that you can relate to them, see their journey and feel inspired to pursue a new learning opportunity.

Tutor's Viewpoint

Through the Berkshire Digital Learning Champions Project a host of new people and organisations known to the existing network stepped forward to deliver the project to the learners. They created new partnerships as well as expanding the existing network. Here they share their experiences delivering the project.

Other Viewpoints

Another vital part of the project are the viewpoints of the other people involved in the project. These mainly include those who facilitated the project, including Brian Jones of the BNLCP and the Adult & Community Learning (ACL) Managers in the 6 Unitary Authorities in Berkshire.

Additional Resources

This page is dedicated to the additional resources that have been created as part of the project. They include the Web2.0 Technologies Webinar vodcasts, the video case study guidance, and the report submitted to NIACE the people managing the fund on behalf of BIS.
