Slough Lifelong Learning undertook a joint project with Wokingham Lifelong Learning that brought together a range of agencies and learning providers to share knowledge and skills in order to further develop and improve the services to local communities.
The main objective was to share good practice particularly with regard to the Common Inspection Framework and how it relates to service delivery and affects data collection issues as well as to raise awareness of how best to engage hard to reach learners. In addition Slough intended to review the role of the Slough UK Online steering group to ensure ongoing sustainability.
Three separate workshops were planned and delivered in Slough and Wokingham. These provided a platform for a professional exchange of experience and expertise on the main issues. The training workshops also highlighted a need for training on the use of digital technologies including Moodle, an open source virtual learning environment, which was subsequently delivered and added to the project outcomes. Twenty organisations from statutory and voluntary organisations participated and attracted over 50 delegates to the three workshops.
