Membership

The Berkshire Neighbourhood Learning Centres Partnership is a network of organisations who have an interest in local learning for Berkshire communities. The membership of the Management Group is made up of representatives from each of the six unitary authorities and non-voting representatives of pan-Berkshire and regional organisations as invited by the existing Management Group.

 
Members of the partnership is made up of neighbourhood learning centres and other organisations. There are three categories of membership :
  • Full membership
  • Associate membership
  • Affiliate membership

Affiliate members

This is open to any organisation which is a stakeholder in local learning for Berkshire communities. They do not need to be delivering learning in Berkshire.
 
The benefits of affiliate membership include :
  • Receiving funding alerts (while BNLCP have a contractor to provide them)
  • Having their details included on the BNLCP website.
  • Being informed of relevant events and training opportunities - some of which may be free or discounted to affiliate members
  • Support to bid to join with full or associate NLC members to submit bids for funding
  • Priority access to reports on activities relating to community learning in Berkshire
In return, affiliate members will be expected to
  • Inform BNLCP of any changes in their contact details or other information displayed on the website
  • Collaborate with others involved with community learning in Berkshire as and when appropriate
 
Organisations requesting affiliate membership which operate within a single local authority would normally be expected to be approved by their local authority ACL or LLL manager. Organisations operating over a larger area would normally be approved by a BNLCP officer in line with guidelines adopted by the BNLCP Management Group.
 

Associate members

This is open to community based centres that operate as a unit for the delivery of community learning having a common interest with the BNLCP.
 
In addition to the benefits afforded to affiliate members they will –
  • Be able to bid to deliver activities according to the BNLCP Business Plan
  • Be able to contract with the BNLCP ICT maintenance scheme
  • Purchase ICT systems through the BNLCP scheme at preferential rates

Full membership

In addition to the benefits afforded to other categories, full members receive direct support from BNLCP through NLDC funds. They will
  • comply fully with the definition of a Berkshire NLC as agreed by BNLCP & LSC
  • work with their local authority to support its strategic objectives for local learning
  • deliver learning within the appropriate quality framework
 
Full or associate membership of BNLCP will be granted on the recommendation of the local authority ACL / LLL manager.
